Sending LETTERS & Postcards from UAE:

The General Postal Authority runs an efficient postal system with red post collection boxes dotted throughout the cities and towns. Mail is usually collected morning and evening. Stamps can be purchased from the Cold Stores and post mailed from your hotel.

Sending PARCELS from UAE:

The Dubai Central Post Office is located on Zabeel Road in Karama. Tel: 337 1500. It is open daily 08.00 a.m.— 20.00 p.m. and Fridays the opening hours are later in the evening 17.00 p.m.—21.00 p.m.

Empost (Emirates Post) offers a courier service for both local and international deliveries. Delivery times are guaranteed and packages can be tracked. Registered mail is relatively inexpensive alternative, and can also be tracked via the reference number.

NOTE: Letters and packages do occasionally go missing and, if the item has not been registered, there’s little that you can do apart from wait — some turn up months after they are expected.

MOBILE Services in UAE:

There are two mobile service options available from both etisalat and du, and each depends on your requirements: Standard GSM — post-paid and pre-paid mobile service. Both operators are also providing i-Phone and Blackberry services on monthly payment plans for citizens and residents.

INTERNET Services in UAE:

Wi-Fi: Etisalat offer Wi-Fi broadband internet access at public locations throughout Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. I-Zones (hotspots) are located at coffee shops, restaurants and hotels where prepaid cards can also be purchased.

Dial-up: Etisalat’s Dial 'N' Surf service is designed for visitors to the UAE and Dubai. It allows easy access by eliminating the need for any service subscription or documentation. Dial 500 5555 to get connected. The phone number used to connect to the service is billed. If using the service from a hotel, check with management to see if additional fees are levied.
