LDTG

Licensed Dubai Tour Guides (LDTG) site provides a list of freelancer tour guides owning a valid license (either from Dubai or Abu Dhabi) and working in United Arab Emirates. However, since there is a minimal annual fee to be paid if one wants to be listed with their details; such information as the license number & validity, other languages spoken, specialties or contact information of the guide might not be available.

The site will not advertise any hospitality property, tour operator or travel agency although you will find some of them mentioned in the Links section while referring to the places to see or visit and the tours to participate during your visit in UAE.

There are already several official and private websites available regarding United Arab Emirates especially Dubai, BUT more often the information past & present is in bits and pieces all over the net and other sources. LDTG site attempt to collect the information available into one place; HOT SPOT that is reachable via internet from everywhere regardless the time of a day.

This site is a personal collection of information that  helps me to keep my tools up to date when conducting the tours — Hopefully it can do the same for my colleagues. Personally, I like the idea that somebody somewhere planning to visit UAE might find the site encouraging and full of fascinating information.

“It is crucial for us to cherish yesterday if we are to be successful in conquering tomorrow”, said Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahiyan to Mr. Mohammed Al–Fahim, when requested permission to write about his journey through the troubled waters of the past with the people of Abu Dhabi in the Book; From Rags to Riches.

Though Sheikh Zayed lived in luxury during his later years, he never forgot the difficult years of his life. It is vital to follow his example by remembering the lessons of the past as well as the courage of our ancestors.

LESSON to LEARN:

According to an ancient Sufi story, there lived a king in some Middle Eastern land who was continuously torn between happiness and despondency. The slightest thing would cause him great upset or provoke an intense reaction, and his happiness would quickly turn into disappointment and despair.

A time came when the king finally got tired of himself and of life, and he began to seek a way out. He sent for a wise man who lived in his kingdom and who was reputed to be enlightened. When the wise man came, the king said: “I want to be like you. Can you give me something that will bring balance, serenity, and wisdom into my life? I will pay any price you ask.”

The wise man said:“I may be able to help you. But the price is so great that your entire kingdom would not be sufficient payment for it. Therefore it will be a gift to you id you will honor it.” The king gave his assurances, and the wise man  left.

A few weeks later, he returned and handed the king an ornate box carved in jade. The king opened the box and  found a simple gold ring inside. Some letters were inscribed on the ring. The inscription read: This too, will pass. “What is the meaning of this?” asked the king. The wise man said, “Wear this ring always.
